Major Russian Strikes Cut Electricity In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to water systems, as stated by city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.

Local officials said the city endured heavy assaults overnight. A young boy died and several individuals were injured.

The attacks come after evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were anticipating more assaults.
