A man who contaminated candy with sedative and provided them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males who were nine and 10.

The accused was detained after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.

Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was remanded in custody before a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Candy game'

The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.

She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.

The man engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".

She stated to the judge the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She stated Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his family member had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The prosecutor stated materials including baby oil, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his worries.

She said Ruben continued to play the "treat game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.

"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she continued.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.

Mrs Prior explained the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the police once more.

She stated the defendant then played the "candy game" in a area of five youngsters.
